What is Macular Degeneration?
Macular degeneration is a progressive condition that affects the macula, the small central portion of the retina responsible for sharp, detailed vision. While AMD rarely leads to total blindness (as side vision usually remains intact), it can significantly impact your daily life.
Dry Macular Degeneration (Non-Exudative)
Dry AMD is the most common form, accounting for about 90% of cases. It occurs when the tissues of the macula thin out over time or when tiny clumps of protein called drusen develop.
